Objectives

Participants will be able to:
  • List at least 5 medical or environmental risk factors for pediatric feeding disorder (PFD) associated with premature and medically complex infant populations.
  • Describe the characteristics (suck type, suck burst length, and respiratory integration) of an appropriately developing feeding pattern in preterm infants.
  • Identify at least 3 tools or observation strategies used to identify feeding dysfunction and/or PFD risk in premature and/or medically complex infants.
  • Describe the characteristics of infant directed feeding and identify if the feeding approach is infant or volume driven.
