She was quickly able to master it and soon began receiving droves of requests for her specialty baked goods. She would sell out of her house to private parties and farmer’s markets, but quickly outgrew the orders and needed to find a more established bakery. Jewel’s Bakery was opened in 2012 as a safe haven for her daughter and others with dietary restrictions. Stephanie Lucas is a Registered Dietitian with over 20 years of operational and leadership experience through career roles in hospital administration, educational food service management, adjunct faculty (Scottsdale Culinary Institute, ASU, GCU), and with Amazon’s global food safety team. In addition, she is currently a small business owner of Give Garden, an Arizona-based recipe delivery and culinary adventure company focused on kids. www.give.garden
As a working mom of two school aged children, she knows the importance that childhood nutrition plays and the anxiety that many families experience when feeding challenges arise. Give Garden makes exploring new foods fun and easy by delivering the food and unique recipe card to the child’s doorstep once a month in the form of a wrapped gift. The recipe focuses on introducing fruit and veggie-based desserts, sides, and entrees to kids and puts them in the driver’s seat to prepare the recipe. Research shows the act of putting them in charge increases the likelihood of exploration and food acceptance, which is often half the battle. Recipes also delve into a variety of preparation methods such as baking, sauteing, and pureeing to build confidence in the kitchen and have a nutrition education lesson in each adventure to increase knowledge on how foods impact their growing bodies.
