Picky Eating & Feeding Difficulties

Does your child:

  • eat less than twenty foods
  • refuse foods of certain textures, temperatures, or colors
  • decline an entire category of food (i.e. veggies)
  • eat the same food over and over
  • become distraught when new foods are on the plate
  • have difficult nursing or bottle-feeding or have a history of early feeding difficulties
  • struggle to maintain a healthy weight
  • fill up on junk food
  • gag, cough, or vomit during meals

Speech and Occupational therapists at BDI Playhouse are licensed and trained to:

  • turn mealtime into positive experiences
  • increase oral motor strength and coordination
  • teach your child to tolerate, interact with, or eat foods of varying textures and consistencies
  • address cup, straw, and bottle drinking
  • utilize specialized techniques such as Beckman Oral Motor Approach, Food Chaining & Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach
  • target effective use of utensils
  • coach and provide resources to families so they can help your child overcome these mealtime obstacles

Lactation Counseling And Feeding Specialists
We are a team of specially trained Speech Language Pathologists who implement oral motor training and certified lactation counseling to give our moms and their babies a dynamic approach to breastfeeding.
Our services include:
  • breastfeeding and human lactation support
  • assessing the mother & baby unit
  • assess the latch, feeding process, positioning, behavior and oral motor skills of your infant
  • providing corrective interventions
  • counseling mothers + family about oral motor skills and lactation
  • Appropriate referrals to other professionals
  • understanding and applying knowledge of milk production including in special circumstances and other commonly encountered situations.
