The Texas Children’s hospital West Campus Feeding Clinic provides: • Assessment and treatment of feeding/swallowing disorders for premature infants to adolescents, • A variety of multi-disciplinary assessment options including a combined occupational therapy/speech therapy/registered dietitian feeding evaluation, individual occupational therapy feeding evaluation or individual speech therapy feeding evaluation, • A variety of treatment options including group therapy, individual occupational therapy, or individual speech therapy for feeding/swallowing disorders, • A variety of treatment methods for feeding to accommodate varied motor and sensory strengths and weaknesses, • A method that combines sensory, motor, oral, behavioral/learning, medical, cognitive, and nutritional factors in order to evaluate and treat children with feeding/growth problems, • An approach based on the developmental progression of feeding skills found in typically developing children, • Gentle desensitization to encourage self-led progress rather than force feeding, We work closely with the gastroenterologists at our facility for shared patients and are able to conduct video fluoroscopic swallow function studies at this facility.
