Our vision for families with uniquely abled children is to foster the skills and community relationships necessary for them to raise empowered and self-sufficient members of society. We believe that all people deserve to engage in meaningful ways with their community. We focus on functional therapy and skill acquisition. Next Steps specializes in feeding therapy. Our Executive Director has a Specialty Certification in Feeding Eating and Swallowing from the American Occupational Therapy Association, a distinction achieved by less than 1% of all occupational therapists nationally. She also has her Advanced Practice Certification in Swallowing Assessment, Evaluation, or Intervention through the California Board of Occupational Therapy. She is trained in and utilizes the SOS Approach to Feeding. The occupational and speech therapy team at Next Steps is committed to helping families navigate the various feeding challenges that arise throughout childhood and are prepared to support families in their needs.
