Daniel B. Kessler, MD, FAAP

Daniel B. Kessler a developmental and behavioral pediatrician with over 30 years of experience was medical director of Southwest Human Development's Children's Development Center since 2011. His team provided integrated care for young children with developmental and behavioral problems and their families. He served as the director of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at the Children's Health Center of St. Joseph's Hospital for over 21 years. At the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix his appointment is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics.
In 2013, Dr. Kessler received the Phoenix Business Journal's Health Care Heroes Award in the Physician category. He has also been recognized as a "Top Doc" by Phoenix Magazine and nationally in the Best Doctors in America.
He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from NYU School of Medicine and completed his residency training in Pediatrics and Fellowship training in Child Development and Family Violence/Child Abuse at New York University/Bellevue Hospital Center in New York and the Children's Hospital in Boston where he trained with noted "Baby Doctor" T. Berry Brazelton.
In addition to his interest in babies and the earliest relationships, Dr. Kessler has expertise in autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD and related co-morbidities, problems of learning and emotional adjustment, feeding and self-regulation.
Dr. Kessler also ran his private practice, Daniel B. Kessler, M.D. and Associates at Southwest Human Development where he was assisted in his practice by long-term colleague Lynn Aiken, RN, MS, PNP. The practice based on a family-centered care philosophy utilized a bio psychosocial approach to developmental challenges, difficulties in emotional regulation and treated every family seen at the practice as family. Dr. Kessler retired from active clinical practice in July 2016. While he is no longer treating children Dr. Kessler continues to apply his experience and expertise to assist children and families and consult to other professionals doing the same. He is an active consultant to the Arizona Medical Board and the Autism Center of Excellence at Touchstone Health Services a provider of integrated healthcare in Phoenix, Arizona.
