Since 2004, the Bank of America’s Charitable Foundation has awarded funds to Phoenix non-profits. This is the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, and it seeks to economically assist positive social efforts locally. Once category of this is called “Local Heroes,” and In October of 2010 Shannon K. Goldwater was a winner, with her grant going to towards The P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. Center.

P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. Center® wins at 2011 Fast Pitch Social Innovation ExpoOn March 2, 2011, Chris Linn from P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. Center participated in the Fast Pitch Social Innovation Expo. At this inaugural event, local nonprofits were invited to “fast pitch” about the importance of their organizations for the chance to win money to assist with their needs. Chris Linn’s concise yet moving explanation of P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E. Center’s purpose and goals for the future won both the $10,000 Social Venture Partners Arizona Investee Award and the $2,500 Mentor’s Choice Award.
